The OFAB Ethiopia Chapter has established seven nodes. A “node” is an approach used by the Chapter and is considered an effective strategy for widely disseminating biotechnology awareness across Ethiopia.
Each OFAB node functions as a cluster that brings together universities, research institutions, extension services, and private sector representatives. These clusters are located within a 150 km range of the coordinating university. Members include key agribiotech players in the node cluster.
The coordinating university of each node has signed an agreement with the Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research (EIAR) to host the OFAB node. The university is responsible for organizing biotechnology awareness platforms for members, engaging the surrounding community, and supporting outreach with biotechnology products.
